Vitamin E supplements, Bio-E-Vitamin from Pharma Nord contributes to the protection of body cell constituents from oxidative stress. Being major fat-soluble antioxidant, vitamin E protects cell membranes from damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are unwanted by-products of normal cellular metabolism and are also generated by exposure to environmental pollutants.
Vitamin E is primarily found in vegetables. Another food item with high vitamin E content is liver. Deep-freezing causes the vitamin E content in food to lose its effects.
Why Pharma Nord Bio-E-Vitamin:
Since many of the best dietary sources of vitamin E are foods associated with a high fat content, individuals on low fat diets are recommended to obtain their vitamin E requirement via dietary supplements.
Levels of vitamin E are reduced by smoking and drinking alcohol, and decline with age. Diets containing a high proportion of fish oils or polyunsaturated fatty acids may result in deficient vitamin E absorption.
Vitamin E (natural or synthetic) can occur in different chemical forms (principally alpha-, beta-, delta- and gamma tocopherols), which have different biological activity; the most effective form of vitamin E utilized by the human body is d-alpha-tocopherol.
Pharma Nord Bio-E-Vitamin contains 200 IU (134mg) of d-alpha-tocopherol.
Pharma Nord recommends 1 capsule to be taken per day, or as directed by a physician.
Not suitable for vegetarians.
Recommended Daily AllowanceVitamin E is 10mg per day, equivalent to 15 International Units (IU) of vitamin E activity. However the RDA equates to the minimum intake required to prevent deficiency. In terms of optimum intake of vitamin E, the European Federation of Health Product Manufacturers recommends a daily intake of 900 IU per day.
Vitamin E is generally well tolerated but may rarely cause gastrointestinal disturbances or headaches.
People taking anticoagulant medications or those with a Vitamin K deficiency may have an increased risk of bleeding with high intakes of Vitamin E.
Pregnant or lactating women and those on medication should consult a doctor before using any product.
